How to make an impression?

My "bf" has asked me to sleep over for several days and to go to dinner to meet his parents. I agreed and have found it to be the worst of experiences. His mum constantly asks questions which I answer. I only get silence or indifference from her. His father is quiet and supposedly wants me paying rent and to leave. But, I don't want to move in and I don't even touch the food in their house. I am very personable and hard working. I go to college on a 40,000 scholarship. I did nurse istant training and also sales/retail. I am well rounded and like to learn new things but I seem to be getting no where with his parents. Am I doing something wrong and how do I make a better impression if I am?
